Musical Pocket Watch
A musical pocket watch is something that has been around for over 275 years since they were created in 1725 by the Swiss. However, their popularity did not really increase until after 1800. Many famous composers including Mozart and Haydn actually composed pieces that were to be used specifically for a musical pocket watch.
The mechanics of these types of watches are rather intriguing to imagine. They disc inside the watch rotated in order to get the teeth to pluck while later on it was improved as a cylinder replaced the disc. It is astounding how the music was able to keep perfect timing with the watch as such precision was placed into making sure the watch was in the best possible quality imaginable and one that would never be forgotten by the owner. While many silver pocket watches and other materials depended solely on the watch maker it was up to the skills of the musician to ensure that the musical pins were placed exactly as needed.
It is very possible for a musical pocket watch to play not only one track but multiple tracks as well. However, this requires even more precision and expertise in the creation of the watch. Both sets of pins need to be aligned exactly as needed in order for both of the tunes to play exactly as needed. The music that plays on the watch is easily triggered by a button on the side of it. The only downside to this is that their prices can be a bit higher than expected but it is well worth it.
